Last week was Wellbeing Week.  Wellbeing is about looking after our physical health and our mental health.  We had a different activity every day to focus on health and wellbeing.

On Monday we did mindfulness. Being mindful means having your mind on what you are doing. It’s the opposite of rushing or doing too many things at once. 

3rd to 6th class had a workshop with Fiona Forman.  The workshop was about being resilient. Fiona gave us a lot of strategies to help with being resilient. 

On Monday night, Fiona was in Laragh to give a presentation to parents entitled “Raising Resilient Children”

                  

 

                 

 

 

       

 

On Tuesday we completed the last day of Jog 28 miles for Pieta House. This was our fundraising activity for Pieta House.  We dressed in yellow and wore our Hi-Vis vests and went on our walk to Gurteen Cross.  It was a bright sunny day.  We enjoyed the fresh air and break from the classroom.  The Student Council counted the money and we raised €540.

 

                    

 

                     

 

 

                      

 

 

          

 

 

 

                        

 

 

                        

 

 

             

 

 

                         

 

                     

 

 

Wednesday was gratitude day.  We focused on being grateful and thankful for the small and big things we have. Thursday was World Book Day.  Everyone bought their favourite book to school.  We had reading time and spoke about our book to the class. We had our annual book day quiz.  We had mixed teams with a child from every class on a team. Friday was the last day of wellbeing week.  We saved the best for last.  Danny Zumba came to the school to do Zumba with everybody.  Zumba Kids is a class that combines dance and aerobics. On Friday we will also had Feel Good Friday. We reflected on our week and thought of one goal we would like to achieve next week.

            

 

 


For homework last week we had a wellbeing sheet.  We completed 2 activities every day from the sheet.

     

 

Wellbeing week was very successful and a positive experience for our school community.
